Climate change is a global problem with grave implications: environmental, social, economic, political and for the distribution of goods. It represents one of the principal challenges facing humanity in our day. Its worst impact will probably be felt by developing countries in coming decades.

Ecological Justice

The Loreto Australia and South East Asia communities, schools and ministries are responding to climate change in many creative ways: going plastic-free, committing to a Province carbon offset scheme of tree-planting, adopting environmentally-friendly heating and cooling measures, and divesting from fossil fuels.

Education for Ecological Conversion

Loreto College Curipipe in Mauritius educates students how to care for our common home. The Go Green Club provides opportunities for members to learn how the environment works, to raise awareness and to encourage actions within their school community.

IBVM/CJ Network Report on Climate Action

In September 2019, a Climate Summit was held at the UN. A briefing on the Summit called on NGOs to give an account of what they are doing. The IBVM/CJ NGO office took up the challenge and called on the Province UN Representatives to share some initiatives taken in each country. The report gives some examples of how the Mary Ward Family is responding to the climate crisis.
